TROUT CREEK POCKET PARK EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Trout Creek Pocket Park was built to support placed based education and facilitate an outdoor classroom , next to Trout Creek. The pocket park has enabled MAP to expand our Land Use Literacy Program to include local elementary students, who can now engage in educational programs at the pocket park focused on water quality, flora, fauna, sustainability and land use planning. Through this program, we introduce students to the topic of sustainable land use planning, water quality, low impact development, sustainable design, and conservation through nature-based education and stewardship. See the Trout Creek Pocket Park Outdoor Classrooms Interpretive program. If you are an educator interested in participating, please contact MAP at 530-582-6751 or info@mapf.org.
STEWARDSHIP AT THE TROUT CREEK POCKET PARK
During the summer and fall, MAP partners with The Villager Nursery, the Town of Truckee, and MAP volunteers to do restoration and stewardship at the Trout Creek Pocket Park. Activities include picking up litter, removing invasive weeds, replanting native plants, and mulching.
